HAMPTON, Va. - The family of Tivona Fogg hosted a candlelight vigil Wednesday night to honor her life. Police found Fogg on Christmas Day suffering from gunshot wounds, before she was pronounced dead.
Around 6 p.m., family and friends came together in the neighborhood where she lived to share memories of Tivona.
Police say her husband, Lamont Lee Lewis, is a suspect in themurder, and has been charged with the following:
- Second degree murder
- Use of a firearm in commission of a felony
- Possession of a firearm by convicted felon
- Discharging firearms or missiles within or at building.
Family members tell News 3's Leondra Head they haven’t been able to reach Fogg’s husband, Lamont Lewis. They say they are still very shaken up after Fogg was tragically killed.
"Say something, it matters. It matters. We question why people didn’t get out, we don’t know why," Fogg's mother said during the vigil.
Fogg’s brother, Ramando Fogg says his sister enjoyed playing poker and was a devoted mother.
"My sister was an angel. She was loved by everybody and she loved everybody. She didn’t deserve this. Nobody deserved this. Nobody deserves to go through this," Fogg said.
Ramando Fogg says he and his family are trying to stay strong during this difficult time.
"We’re going to continue to need the help from each other and we’re going to continue to go through it," Fogg said.
With candles in hand, many of Fogg’s loved ones wore t-shirts with pictures of her to honor her life.
"She would help anyone with their problems but when it came to hers, she didn’t want any help," Fogg said.
Officials originally stated that Lewis was wanted for questioning in the incident, but have since charged him.
Around 12:11 p.m., on Christmas Day, officials received a call-in reference to a welfare check in the first block of Twin Lakes Circle.
She was pronounced deceased on scene by members of the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue.
